What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy helps children and adolescents build the skills they need to participate more fully in everyday life and bring you meaning.  At Honeycomb Psychology, our occupational therapy services focus on supporting function across home, school, and community environments through individualized, evidence-based care.

We support children in areas such as:

  • Sensory processing and regulation

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as dressing, hygiene, sleep, and toilet training

  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), including building daily routines, cooking, and chores

  • Handwriting and fine motor skills

  • Executive functioning (goal setting, prioritization, initiation, and task completion)

Why might my child need occupational therapy?

Some children benefit from additional support when challenges impact their ability to engage in daily routines or meet expectations. Occupational therapy may help if your child:

  • Struggles with handwriting, fine motor coordination, or school-related tasks such as using scissors

  • Has difficulty processing sensory input such as sensitivity to sounds, textures, or lights

  • Seeks more sensory input that interferes with ability to get tasks complete or sitting still

  • Experiences challenges with attention, organization, or completing multi step activities

  • Needs support with independence in daily routines like getting dressed, brushing teeth, showering, or wiping

  • Has difficulty managing transitions, routines, or unexpected changes

  • Loses control of emotions especially when faced with sensory challenges, changes in routines, or social expectations

What can I expect in occupational therapy?

Then Sessions are designed to help children build skills that translate directly into daily life through engaging and fun therapeutic activity.

Therapists will collaborate closely with caregivers and clients. Caregiver coaching and practical strategies are included to support carryover at home.

How much does a occupational therapy session cost?

The initial evaluation appointment is a flat fee of $300 (60-90 minutes). Follow up therapy sessions are $180 (45 minutes).
